Delicious Asian Lettuce Wraps featuring savory ground beef and fresh vegetables, wrapped in crispy lettuce leaves for a perfect hand-held meal.
Ingredients
16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves
1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 large onion
chopped
¼ cup hoisin sauce
2 cloves fresh garlic
minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger
1 dash Asian chile pepper sauce
or to taste (Optional)
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts
drained and finely chopped
1 bunch green onions
chopped
2 teaspoons Asian (dark) sesame oil
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the minced garlic, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, pickled ginger, and chile pepper sauce, if using.
- Fold in the chopped water chestnuts and green onions, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
- Spoon the beef mixture into lettuce leaves and serve immediately.
Notes
Feel free to customize the filling with other veggies or proteins as desired. These wraps are best eaten fresh.
