Ground Beef
Cheese
Seasonings
Onion
Garlic
Salsa or Tomato Sauce
Oil
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the lean ground beef with chopped onion and garlic until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder to the beef mixture, followed by salsa or tomato sauce. Stir well and let it cook for a few minutes to combine flavors.
- Warm the tortillas slightly to make them flexible, then spoon the beef mixture onto the center of each tortilla and top with shredded cheese.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla inwards, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top, sealing the edges.
- In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry each chimichanga until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Alternatively, for a healthier option, brush the rolled chimichangas with oil or melted butter and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until crisp.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, or additional salsa.
Notes
For extra crunch, ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the chimichangas. You can customize the filling with beans or veggies.
