2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

1 cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)

23 tablespoons milk or heavy cream (optional glaze)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 tablespoon lemon juice for lemon glaze (optional glaze)

pinch of salt (optional glaze)


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually stir in the cold buttermilk until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the blueberries.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it to about 1-inch thickness.
  • Cut out biscuits with a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • For the optional glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and drizzle over the biscuits once cooled.

Notes

Feel free to substitute dried blueberries if fresh are not available. The glaze adds a delightful sweetness but is optional.
