Ingredients
Bolillo bread: 4 rolls sliced
Brown sugar: 1 cup
Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
Whole cloves: 4-5
Raisins: 1 cup
Pecans: 1/2 cup chopped
Cheese: 1 cup shredded (such as queso fresco or mozzarella)
Water: 2 cups
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and whole cloves. Heat until sugar is dissolved to create a syrup.
- Layer the sliced bolillo bread in a baking dish.
- Pour the syrup over the bread, ensuring it is well soaked.
- Sprinkle raisins, chopped pecans, and shredded cheese evenly over the soaked bread.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the top is golden.
