Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry thawed
6 cups thinly sliced Granny Smith apples
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons unsalted butter diced
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Mix well until the apples are coated.
- Lay one sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the puff pastry.
- Dot the apple filling with diced unsalted butter.
- Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and seal the edges by pressing them together.
- Cut a few slits in the top pastry to allow steam to escape.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the warm apple slices before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of salt to the apple filling or a sprinkle of chopped nuts on top before baking.
