Instructions

  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  • Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, oil, vanilla, and orange zest. Add to dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

  • Prepare Batter: Pour mixture into a 1 ½-quart (1.5 L) microwave-safe dish, spreading evenly.

  • Add Sauce Layer: Mix brown sugar and cocoa powder, sprinkle evenly over batter. Carefully pour boiling water and orange juice over the top. Do not stir.

  • Microwave: Cook on high for 8–10 minutes, until pudding is set on top but sauce is bubbling underneath. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
