2 teaspoons cornstarch

1 cup (227g) unsalted butter
melted
1 cup (200g) firmly packed light brown sugar
½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk
room temperature
1 and ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 and ½ cups (255g) chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt until combined.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips or adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
