Description
Indulge in the rich and creamy flavors of Crème Brûlée French Toast, a delightful twist on a classic breakfast dish that merges the luxurious taste of crème brûlée with the comforting charm of French toast.
Ingredients
1 loaf of brioche or challah bread (12–14 slices)
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Fresh berries (optional)
Powdered sugar (optional)
Maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Arrange the slices of brioche or challah bread in the greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down gently to ensure all slices are soaked. Let it sit for 15 minutes to absorb.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and maple syrup, if desired.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, consider swapping granulated sugar with brown sugar. Allowing the bread to soak longer in the custard will enhance the creaminess.
