Description

Crispy Kartoffelpuffer are delectable potato tahini patties that combine fresh herbs and spices for a unique flavor experience.


Ingredients

5 whole potatoes

large (about 4 pounds)

1 bunch fresh parsley

finely chopped

1/2 bunch fresh cilantro

finely chopped

5 cloves garlic

minced

4 teaspoons cumin

2 1/4 teaspoons turmeric

1/2 teaspoon salt

more or less to taste

1/4 teaspoon pepper

more or less to taste

1 cup tahini paste

or more as needed


Instructions

  • Peel and grate the potatoes, then place them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  • In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped parsley, cilantro, minced garlic, cumin, turmeric, salt, pepper, and tahini. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Spoon out portions of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, flattening them slightly into patties.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on both sides.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you may pan-fry the patties instead of baking. Serve with a side of your favorite dipping sauce.
