Instructions
- Start by soaking the Korean rice cakes in warm water for about 20 minutes to soften them.
- In a large pan, heat some sesame oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the gochujang, soy sauce, brown sugar, water (or chicken broth), and Korean chili flakes to create the sauce.
- Once the sauce is simmering, add the soaked rice cakes and fish cakes, stirring to coat.
- Continue to cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the rice cakes are heated through and the sauce has thickened.
- Finally, garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy your homemade Tteokbokki!
Notes
Feel free to adjust the spiciness by adding more or less gochujang and Korean chili flakes. You can also add vegetables like cabbage or carrots according to your preference.
