Ingredients

4 glazed donuts halved horizontally
4 slices thick-cut bacon
4 slices cheddar or American cheese
2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
2 tbsp pure maple syrup
optional: ¼ tsp ground black pepper
pinch of sea salt
drizzle of hot honey or chili flakes
1 tbsp cream cheese or mascarpone
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, spread softened butter on the cut sides of each donut half.
- On the unbuttered side of two donut halves, layer cheese and crispy bacon. Top with the other two donut halves, buttered side out.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the outsides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Remove from heat, drizzle with maple syrup, and add optional toppings if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
