Description
This easy 20-minute homemade bread dough is perfect for those who crave freshly baked bread but don’t have the time for a lengthy process. With simple ingredients and minimal effort, this quick dough can be used for various creations such as rolls, pizza crusts, or loaves, making it a versatile addition to your baking repertoire.
Ingredients
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
1 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 cup warm water (110°F)
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of warm water (110°F) with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 packet of instant yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of salt to the yeast mixture.
Gradually add 2 1/2 cups of bread flour and 1 cup of whole wheat flour, stirring until combined.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the dough rise for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Shape the dough as desired and bake according to your recipe or preferences (pizza, rolls, or loaf).
Notes
Be sure to use warm water (100°F to 110°F) to activate the yeast. Water that’s too hot can kill the yeast.
If you prefer a lighter texture, you can increase the amount of bread flour and reduce the whole wheat flour.
You can customize this dough by adding herbs, spices, or even cheese for added flavor.
