1.5 lb sirloin steak cut into 1-inch pieces

2 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

20 oz fresh or frozen cheese tortellini

1 tablespoon salt for pasta water

4 tablespoon butter

6 cloves garlic minced

1.5 cups heavy cream

1 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ cup reserved pasta water as needed

¼ cup fresh parsley chopped

¼ cup parmesan cheese extra for topping


Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the sirloin steak pieces with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning, then add to the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Season with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
  • Meanwhile, cook the tortellini according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the tortellini.
  • Add the cooked tortellini and the reserved steak to the skillet with the garlic cream sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and an extra sprinkle of parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes
