Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the red food coloring until the desired color is achieved.
- Roll the cookie dough into 1-inch balls and coat them in red sanding sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cookies are puffed and set.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
