1 whole baguette torn into breadcrumbs
3 tablespoon pork lard or oil
1 pound smoked bacon sliced
2 pounds Italian sausage crumbled
½ cup beer
3 tablespoon butter
2 onions diced
3 celery stalks diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon vegetable seasoning
3 teaspoon salt divided (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the pork lard or oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bacon and cook until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onions and celery. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the crumbled Italian sausage to the skillet and cook until browned. Stir in garlic powder, smoked paprika, vegetable seasoning, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine the torn baguette breadcrumbs, sausage mixture, cooked bacon, and beer. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish and dot with butter.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until golden brown on top.
