  • 1 cup very warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 3 tablespoons very warm water
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Toppings:

  • 6 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ⅓ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon herbes de Provence
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast:
    In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make Dough:
    In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, olive oil, and remaining water. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead:
    Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape Dough:
    Press dough into a greased baking pan. Use your fingers to create dimples across the surface.
  6. Add Toppings:
    Drizzle olive oil over the dough. Sprinkle garlic, Parmesan, parsley, onion powder, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  7. Bake:
    Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve:
    Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy warm.
