Description

Garlic Rosemary Herb Focaccia is a fragrant and delightful bread, elevated by the essence of garlic and fresh herbs. Perfect for dipping or as a side dish, it combines a crisp crust with a soft, airy interior.


Ingredients

2 cups (480ml) warm water (between 100–110°F

2 teaspoons granulated sugar

2 teaspoons instant or active dry yeast

1/4 cup (60ml) extra virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon kosher salt

4 and 1/2–5 cups (563–625g) all-purpose flour

5 Tablespoons (75ml) extra virgin olive oil

2 garlic cloves

34 Tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (basil

rosemary)

sprinkle of coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil, kosher salt, and 4 and 1/2 cups of flour. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a baking pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and spread it out into the prepared pan. Let it rest for another 20 minutes.
  • Dimple the surface of the dough with your fingers, drizzle with remaining olive oil, and sprinkle minced garlic, chopped herbs, coarse salt, and black pepper on top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan and cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an added flavor boost, you can incorporate other herbs to suit your taste. Serve with olive oil for dipping or as a side to your favorite meal.
