candy canes

gum drops

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and dark brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add the molasses, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and baking soda to the mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually mix in the flour, ensuring a firm dough. If it’s too sticky, add more flour as needed.
  • Divide the dough into two parts, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick and cut out the shapes for your gingerbread house.
  • Place the cutouts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until firm.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before assembling the house with icing and decorations.
  • Decorate your gingerbread house with icing, candy canes, gum drops, sprinkles, and chocolates as desired.
