Description

Ground Beef Orzo with Tomato Cream Sauce is a comforting, one-pan meal made with tender orzo pasta, savory ground beef, and a rich, creamy tomato sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this hearty dish delivers bold flavor with minimal effort and is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • ½ medium onion, finely chopped

  • 34 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta

  • 1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce

  • ¾ cup beef broth

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach, packed

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat and set beef aside.

  • In the same skillet, sauté the onion for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Stir in crushed red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  • Add tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and uncooked orzo. Stir well.

  • Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.

  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir in the heavy cream.

  • Add spinach and cook until wilted.

  • Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.

  • Add more broth if the sauce thickens too much.

  • Spinach can be replaced with kale or omitted if desired.
