Ingredients
Boneless
skinless chicken thighs
Soy sauce
Brown sugar
Pineapple juice
Garlic
Ginger
Sesame oil
Rice vinegar
Cornstarch slurry
Green onions
Sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes, or ideally, several hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Transfer the marinated chicken to a baking dish.
- Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes or until fully cooked, basting occasionally with extra marinade.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and stir it into the leftover marinade in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
- Once the chicken is done, remove it from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, and then slice.
- Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds, and enjoy your homemade Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken!
Notes
For extra flavor, consider grilling the chicken instead of baking it. Adjust the cooking time accordingly if using chicken breasts to prevent drying out.
