Ingredients
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup plain flour (I use King Arthur all-purpose flour)
1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup water
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon powder (freshly ground preferred for more flavor)
1 cup white sugar
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Stir until the mixture boils and the butter is melted.
- Remove from heat and add flour. Stir until combined and a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then beat in the egg and vanilla essence until smooth.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fill a piping bag with the churro dough.
- Pipe dough into bite-sized pieces onto parchment paper. Cut with scissors and place in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
- In a bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. Once churro bites are done, immediately toss them in the mixture to coat.
Notes
For an extra crispy texture, ensure you do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. You can adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar according to your preference.
