Description

This Honey Walnut Shrimp recipe is a quick and easy way to enjoy a deliciously crispy dish harmonized with sweet and creamy flavors. Perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests!

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup walnuts halves or pieces

2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp water

1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined (tails on or off)

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 large egg white

pinch of salt and black pepper

2 cups vegetable oil (for shallow frying)

1/2 cup mayonnaise (full-fat for best results)

2 tbsp honey

1 tbsp condensed milk (or more honey)

1 tsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

sesame seeds (optional)

chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the walnuts, sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat until the mixture bubbles, then stir until the walnuts are golden and caramelized. Set aside to cool.
  • In a bowl, mix the cornstarch, egg white, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and coat well.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, honey, condensed milk, and rice vinegar until smooth.
  • Toss the crispy shrimp with the creamy honey sauce, and then sprinkle with the candied walnuts. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture. Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more honey or condensed milk to taste.
