Ingredients
1 ½ pounds (680 g) ground beef (80/20 blend preferred)
1 medium onion
finely chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
6 slices thick-cut bacon
cooked crisp and chopped
1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 cloves garlic
minced
2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
1 ½ cups (150 g) grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
12 lasagna noodles
cooked al dente
1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
¼ cup (15 g) chopped parsley (optional
for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until softened.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, along with smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through. Stir in cooked bacon and shredded cheddar cheese, and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then whisk in flour to create a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add whole milk and heavy cream, whisking constantly until thickened. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked lasagna noodles, followed by the meat mixture, and half of the Parmesan garlic sauce.
- Repeat with the remaining noodles, meat mixture, and sauce. Top with mozzarella cheese and additional cheddar cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Feel free to customize the meat layer with your favorite toppings. You can also use turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative to ground beef.
