Ingredients
2 cups chicken
cooked
cut in small bite-sized pieces
4 cups pasta
cooked and drained
3 tablespoons butter
1 small onion
finely chopped
2 garlic cloves
minced
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup milk
3 cups cheese
grated
with 1/2 cup reserved for sprinkling on top
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until soft.
- Stir in the flour, mixing well, and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and sour cream, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Add the cooked chicken, pasta, and 2.5 cups of cheese to the skillet, and mix until everything is well combined.
- Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with the reserved cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a creamier texture, consider using cream instead of milk. You can also add vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers for added nutrition.
