Description

A classic and comforting dessert, peach cobbler combines the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with a warm, buttery topping. It’s the perfect treat for any occasion, especially during summer when peaches are at their peak. The recipe is simple, quick to prepare, and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Peach Filling:

  • 68 ripe peaches (about 4 cups), peeled, pitted, and sliced

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

For the Cobbler Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Prepare the Peach Filling:
Peel, pit, and slice the peaches into medium-thin wedges or chunks. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peach slices, granulated sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon (optional), salt, and cornstarch. Toss gently to coat the peaches evenly and set aside.

  • Make the Cobbler Topping:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon (optional). Pour in the milk and melted butter and stir until just combined. The batter will be thick.

  • Assemble the Cobbler:
Pour the peach filling into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the peach filling, leaving some gaps (the topping will spread while baking).

  • Bake the Cobbler:
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling. If a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean, it’s done.

  • Cool and Serve:
Let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. It’s best served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sugar in the peach filling based on the sweetness of the peaches.

  • For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend and ensure your baking powder is also gluten-free.

  • Feel free to add berries like raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries for added flavor and color.
