Slow Cooker Shredded Beef Sandwiches are the ultimate comfort food, featuring tender and flavorful beef served on a soft bun, topped with your favorite extras.
Ingredients
3 lbs (1.4 kg) beef chuck roast
trimmed of excess fat
1 large onion
sliced
3 cloves garlic
minced
1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
½ cup (120 ml) barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
6–8 sandwich rolls or buns
6–8 slices provolone or cheddar cheese (optional)
Pickles
coleslaw
or caramelized onions for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
- Add the sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the beef.
- Pour the beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, smoked paprika, thyme, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes over the meat and onions.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
- Once cooked, shred the beef using two forks and mix with the sauce in the slow cooker.
- Toast the sandwich rolls if desired.
- Serve the shredded beef on rolls, topped with cheese and your choice of pickles, coleslaw, or caramelized onions.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the beef overnight in the refrigerator with the spices and sauces.
