Description
This Spicy Air Fryer Jackfruit Chicken is a flavorful, plant-based alternative to traditional chicken dishes. With its spicy kick and tender texture, it makes an excellent filling for tacos, sandwiches, or salads.
Ingredients
20 oz young green jackfruit packed in water or brine
1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
1–2 tbsp hot sauce to taste
1 tsp maple syrup or agave optional
Instructions
- Drain and rinse the jackfruit, then cut off the core and remove any seeds.
- Shred the jackfruit with your hands or a fork into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, hot sauce, and maple syrup or agave.
- Add the shredded jackfruit to the bowl and toss until well coated with the spice mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the seasoned jackfruit in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until crispy and heated through.
- Serve hot, and enjoy in tacos, sandwiches, or as a salad topping.
Notes
Adjust the amount of hot sauce according to your spice preference. The optional maple syrup or agave can help balance the heat.
