2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
spooned and leveled
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 and 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/3 cup granulated sugar for rolling
1 and 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and kosher salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll them into balls, and then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, allow the dough to chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking. This step can also prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
