  • Total Time: 20 minutes (+30 minutes chilling)
  • Yield: 24 truffles 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These 4th of July Truffles are a delightful and patriotic treat, featuring a creamy Oreo and cream cheese filling, coated in white chocolate and adorned with festive red and blue sanding sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14.3 oz Oreo Cookies (1 standard package
  • regular stuf)
  • 8 oz full fat brick cream cheese
  • softened
  • 1 pinch fine sea salt
  • 12 oz white candy melts or white chocolate wafers
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp red and blue sanding sugar or patriotic sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a bag and rolling a rolling pin over them.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreo cookies, softened cream cheese, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Freeze the truffles for about 15 minutes to set.
  5. While the truffles are freezing, melt the white candy melts or chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl with coconut oil, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  6. Dip each frozen truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off, then return to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle the tops with red and blue sanding sugar or patriotic sprinkles.
  8. Let the chocolate harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

These truffles can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for freshness. Feel free to get creative with the sprinkles for different occasions!
