Description
These 4th of July Truffles are a delightful and patriotic treat, featuring a creamy Oreo and cream cheese filling, coated in white chocolate and adorned with festive red and blue sanding sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14.3 oz Oreo Cookies (1 standard package
- regular stuf)
- 8 oz full fat brick cream cheese
- softened
- 1 pinch fine sea salt
- 12 oz white candy melts or white chocolate wafers
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp red and blue sanding sugar or patriotic sprinkles
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a bag and rolling a rolling pin over them.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreo cookies, softened cream cheese, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the truffles for about 15 minutes to set.
- While the truffles are freezing, melt the white candy melts or chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl with coconut oil, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Dip each frozen truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off, then return to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle the tops with red and blue sanding sugar or patriotic sprinkles.
- Let the chocolate harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.
Notes
These truffles can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for freshness. Feel free to get creative with the sprinkles for different occasions!
