- 1 cup apple cider
- ¼ cup light brown sugar packed
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon apple pie spice
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons apple cider syrup
- ¼ cup espresso or strong coffee
- 1 cup 2% milk
- caramel syrup for drizzle optional
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the apple cider, light brown sugar, unsalted butter, and apple pie spice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Add this to the apple cider mixture and stir until it thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Prepare the espresso or strong coffee. In a separate pot, heat the 2% milk until hot but not boiling.
- To assemble, in a glass or mug, add 2 tablespoons of the apple cider syrup, followed by the espresso or coffee. Gently pour the hot milk over the coffee mixture.
- Drizzle with caramel syrup or additional apple cider syrup if desired, and enjoy your Apple Crisp Macchiato!
Notes
For a sweeter drink, feel free to add more apple cider syrup or caramel drizzle. Adjust the spiciness by increasing the apple pie spice according to taste.
