Description

This delightful Apple Tart on Puff Pastry features tender Granny Smith apples glazed with apricot jam, nestled on a flaky puff pastry crust for a perfect dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • thawed overnight in the fridge
  • 3/4 cup apricot jam
  • divided
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • divided
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • pinch Kosher salt
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • cored and sliced into 1/4” thick slices
  • 1 egg
  • beaten
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter
  • cubed
  • vanilla ice cream
  • for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix together 1/4 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Add the sliced apples to the sugar mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  5. Spread 1/2 cup of apricot jam over the puff pastry.
  6. Arrange the apple slices on top of the jam in an overlapping pattern.
  7. Dot the apples with cubed butter.
  8. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle the remaining granulated sugar over the apples.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush the remaining apricot jam over the apples while hot.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Ensure your puff pastry is fully thawed for best results. You can substitute Granny Smith apples with other tart apples if preferred.
