- 1 lb. ground beef
- ½ medium yellow onion
- finely diced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 15-oz. can pinto beans
- drained and rinsed
- 1 15-oz. can kidney beans
- drained and rinsed
- 1 15-oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 15-oz. can diced tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoons salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- Optional Toppings: shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot, sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the pinto beans, kidney beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste.
- Add maple syrup, chili powder, garlic powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Pour in the beef broth, stir, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cover.
- Let the chili simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot, topped with cheese, Fritos, and green onion as desired.
Notes
For additional flavor, let the chili sit for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator before serving. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
