Description

Baked apples are a classic, comforting dessert made with tender apples stuffed with a warm, spiced oat filling and baked in a rich apple cider sauce. Naturally sweet, aromatic, and incredibly satisfying, this easy recipe is perfect for cozy evenings, holiday gatherings, or even a wholesome breakfast option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 baking apples (about 6 oz. each) such as Honeycrisp
  • ¼ cup dark rum
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ⅓ cup dark or light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Core the apples and create a hollow space in the center.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, shredded coconut, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt.
  4. Add the dark rum to the dry mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Stuff each apple with the oat mixture and place them in a baking dish.
  6. Dot each apple with unsalted butter and pour the apple cider around the apples in the baking dish.
  7. Add a cinnamon stick to the apple cider.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the apples are tender.
  10. Serve warm, drizzled with the apple cider from the dish.

Notes

  • Choose firm apples to prevent them from collapsing أثناء baking.
  • Adjust sugar depending on apple sweetness.
  • Skip rum for an alcohol-free version (replace with more cider).
  • Add chopped nuts or raisins for extra texture.
