Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed (110g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 medium apples (about 300g)
  • peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • sifted
  • 23 tablespoons (30-45ml) whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat and continue to cook until it turns a golden brown color and starts to smell nutty, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the blondies cool completely in the pan before preparing the glaze.
  10. For the glaze, in a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  11. Drizzle the cinnamon glaze over the cooled blondies, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add chopped nuts or raisins to the batter. Ensure the butter is browned properly for the best taste.
