- 1 1/2 cups (195g) all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter

- 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup (52g) sugar
- 1/2 cup (112g) packed brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp (43g) sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
- 1 cup finely chopped apple
- 1 1/4 cups (280g) unsalted butter
- room temperature
- 5 cups (575g) powdered sugar
- 4–6 tbsp caramel sauce
- pinch of ground cinnamon

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, cream the butter, vegetable oil, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the vanilla extract and sour cream, mixing until combined.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the milk.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined, then fold in the chopped apples.
- Divide the batter among the cupcake liners and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
- For the caramel buttercream, beat the butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar and mix well.
- Mix in 4-6 tablespoons of caramel sauce and a pinch of cinnamon until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with the caramel buttercream, drizzle with additional caramel sauce, and garnish with apple slices.
Notes
For a stronger apple flavor, consider adding more chopped apples or using apple cider in place of some of the milk.
