- 1 ½ lbs ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 5 –6 medium russet potatoes thinly sliced (about 1/8 inch)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella optional
- for extra meltiness
- 1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika optional
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter for greasing the dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil or butter.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk, mixing well. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika if using. Remove from heat.
- In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the meat mixture, and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. Repeat layers, finishing with the remaining cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
