1 cup uncooked white rice

2 cups chicken broth or water

1/2 cup store-bought queso blanco or Velveeta cheese sauce

1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese optional for extra cheesiness

2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro for garnish


Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sliced sirloin steak, season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Stir in the uncooked rice and chicken broth (or water), bringing to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until rice is tender.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the queso cheese sauce and optional shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
