Description

Delightfully soft and chewy sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups margarine
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together the margarine and 2 cups of white sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets and flatten them slightly.
  7. Sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup of white sugar.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven until lightly golden.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
