Chicken Gloria is a creamy, rich dish featuring succulent chicken breasts smothered in a delectable sauce made with cremini mushrooms, garlic, and sherry, topped with melted Muenster cheese.

- 3 large chicken breasts
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Flour for dredging + 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 tablespoons butter (1/2 stick) divided
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms sliced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup sherry dry
- 1.5 cups heavy/whipping cream
- 6 slices Muenster cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then dredge them in flour.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Add the chicken breasts and sear until golden brown on both sides; about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and garlic; sauté until the mushrooms are tender.
- Pour in the sherry and deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits.
- Stir in the heavy cream and remaining butter, letting it simmer until slightly thickened.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top.
- Top each piece of chicken with a slice of Muenster cheese.
- Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve hot with the creamy sauce drizzled over the chicken.
Notes
This dish pairs well with rice or a fresh green salad. For a lighter version, consider using boneless, skinless chicken thighs.
