Ingredients

  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple peeled cored and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract, eggs, and milk to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
  7. Fold the apple mixture into the batter gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon topping.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  11. For the glaze, mix together confectioners’ sugar, ground cinnamon, and water until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled bread.
