- 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chopped apple, light brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Fold this apple mixture into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle it evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, mix the confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water until smooth, and drizzle over the cooled bread before slicing.
Notes
For best flavor, use a tart apple variety like Granny Smith, and feel free to add nuts for extra crunch.
