Description
Citrus and Berry Cream Cheese Stuffed Brioche French Toast is a deliciously indulgent breakfast treat featuring creamy filling and sweet berry compote.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups frozen organic mixed berries
- 1/4 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup cane sugar
- 1 medium Brioche loaf
- cut into 6–8 slices
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- salt
- pinch
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh nutmeg
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine mixed berries, orange zest, fresh orange juice, and cane sugar. Cook over medium heat until berries break down and mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, a pinch of salt, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest, and fresh orange juice.
- Dip each slice of Brioche in the egg mixture, then spread cream cheese mixture on half of the slices. Top with remaining slices to create sandwiches.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease. Cook each sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
- Serve warm topped with the berry compote.
Notes
For best results, prepare the compote a day in advance to allow flavors to meld. Brioche is key for a fluffy texture, but you can substitute with challah if needed.
