Citrus and Berry Cream Cheese Stuffed Brioche French Toast is a deliciously indulgent breakfast treat featuring creamy filling and sweet berry compote.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen organic mixed berries
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup cane sugar
  • 1 medium Brioche loaf
  • cut into 68 slices
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • salt
  • pinch
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine mixed berries, orange zest, fresh orange juice, and cane sugar. Cook over medium heat until berries break down and mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, a pinch of salt, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest, and fresh orange juice.
  3. Dip each slice of Brioche in the egg mixture, then spread cream cheese mixture on half of the slices. Top with remaining slices to create sandwiches.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease. Cook each sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
  5. Serve warm topped with the berry compote.

Notes

For best results, prepare the compote a day in advance to allow flavors to meld. Brioche is key for a fluffy texture, but you can substitute with challah if needed.
