Description

This Creamy Kielbasa Broccoli Skillet combines tender penne pasta with flavorful kielbasa, fresh broccoli, and a rich cheddar cheese sauce for a satisfying one-pan meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces penne pasta
  • 2 cups (182 g) fresh broccoli florets quartered
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 ring (13.9 ounces) kielbasa cut into ¼-inch slices
  • 1 small yellow onion finely diced (about ½ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1 ½ cups (367.5 g) whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 ½ cups (169.5 g) mild cheddar cheese shredded
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Add the broccoli florets during the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced kielbasa to the pot and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the whole milk and cornstarch until smooth. Pour this mixture into the pot, stirring to combine.
  5. Add the cooked penne and broccoli back into the pot. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

For a spicy kick, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes when cooking the kielbasa. This dish can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
