Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 Tablespoons cold butter
  • 4 Tablespoons cold cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds + 2 Tbsp. for topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons cream cheese room temperature
  • 23 Tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, almond extract, and vanilla.
  5. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined, then gently fold in the cherries and sliced almonds.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with the additional sliced almonds.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the scones cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, heavy cream, and almond extract until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use cold ingredients and handle the dough as little as possible to ensure fluffy scones.
