Description

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (300 g) granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg, room temperature

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 tbsp milk (whole or 2% recommended)

For Rolling (Optional):

  • ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar


Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy, 2–3 minutes.

  • Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in egg, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

  • Combine Dough: Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  • Shape Cookies: Scoop 1 ½ tbsp dough, roll into balls, and coat in sugar if desired. Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart.

  • Bake: Bake 9–11 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Centers should look slightly soft.

  • Cool: Let cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chill dough for 20 minutes if too sticky.

  • Pull cookies early for soft texture; bake longer for crispier edges.

  • Decorate with frosting, colored sugar, or sprinkles for holidays.

  • Dough can be frozen in balls for future baking.
