Ingredients
- Figs
- All-purpose flour or a combination of whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar or a combination of granulated sugar and brown sugar
- Ground cardamom
- Cinnamon powder
- Ground cloves
- Freshly ground nutmeg
- Walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and spices.
- If using fresh or frozen figs, chop them. If using dried figs, rehydrate them and chop. Add the figs and nuts to the dry mixture.
- Mix the wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, try adding orange zest or a teaspoon of vanilla extract. If using fig jam or preserves, reduce the sugar accordingly.
