Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Bake the cake and let it cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl and mix in chocolate chips if using.
- Form the cake mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine the browned butter, vanilla frosting, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla extract, and salt to make the brown butter frosting.
- Dip the end of a wooden stick into the brown butter frosting, then insert the stick into each cake ball. This helps hold the stick in place.
- Coat each cake pop in brown butter frosting, allowing excess to drip off.
- Melt white candy melts or white chocolate and drizzle over the cake pops to create football laces.
- Decorate with optional sprinkles or edible glitter if desired.
- Let the cake pops set before serving.
Notes
These cake pops can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. For a fun twist, feel free to use different colored candy melts for personalization.
