- 3–4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 8–10 cranks freshly-ground black pepper
- Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the broccoli florets and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender.
- Push the broccoli to the side of the skillet and add the ground beef, cooking until browned.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes. This dish pairs well with rice or noodles.
