Description

This Hatch Chile Salsa Verde is a vibrant and tangy sauce that highlights the flavors of roasted hatch chiles and fresh tomatillos. Perfect for dipping, drizzling, or throwing on tacos.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds tomatillos
  • fresh
  • husks and stems removed
  • 4 hatch chiles
  • stemmed
  • ½ cup white onion
  • chopped
  • ½ cup cilantro leaves
  • fresh
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 limes
  • medium
  • juiced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the tomatillos and hatch chiles on a baking sheet and roast for about 20 minutes or until they are softened and slightly charred.
  3. Once roasted, let them cool slightly, then peel the skin off the chiles.
  4. In a blender or food processor, combine the roasted tomatillos, chiles, white onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Blend until smooth and adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
