Description
A hearty homemade Impossible Breakfast Sandwich made with a plant-based sausage patty, fried egg, melted cheddar cheese, and a toasted sesame ciabatta bun. It’s savory, satisfying, and easy to customize with vegan or lower-sodium ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Impossible sausage patty
- 1 large egg
- 1 slice cheddar cheese
- 1 sesame ciabatta bun
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil, as needed
- Optional: sliced tomato
- Optional: handful of fresh spinach
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the Impossible sausage patty for 3–4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
- Place the cheddar cheese on top of the cooked sausage. Cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- In a separate pan, fry the egg to your preferred doneness. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Slice the ciabatta bun and lightly toast the cut sides in a skillet until warm and golden.
- Assemble the sandwich by placing the sausage patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of the bun.
- Add the fried egg and optional tomato or spinach.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a vegan version, use a plant-based egg substitute and dairy-free cheese.
- Toasting the bun helps prevent it from becoming soggy.
- Add smoked paprika or garlic powder to the sausage for extra flavor.
- Sodium can vary depending on the sausage, cheese, and bun used.
